When I load a video in movie2 I am prompted with an error “decoder element not installed”, however, I am unable to find a decoder in the downloads. The .mp4 plays fine in windows media player.

the error message you see is the result of the video file not being able to be loaded. This can have many reasons.
Can you tell me how exactly you are loading the video file?
You could also try loading the video in the Common Vision Blox Viewer application.
If at all possible you could also send me the video file so I can have a look.
