USB License dongle

I am having problems where the license dongle is not always recognized and the window that shows the camera output says we are using an evaluation license.

Sometime simply unplugging the dongle and closing the software then plugging back in and starting the software will clear the message.

But I have also had it where the PC has had to be restarted.

This is across several machines \ dongles so I don’t think it is the individual dongle that is failing, just to also note that we are using 2 different manufacturers for the PC so not likely the PC that is the problem.

Any ideas on the cause?

Thanks

Hi Broardstone,

This sound like an issue related to the CV Management Service which is communicating with the CodeMeter Service to check the license.

Please check if the CV Management and CodeMeter service is still running if the error occurs. You can check it easily with the CVB License Manager in the Serial Numbers tab:

This was an issue in the past with some CVB versions. with the recent CVB versions I do not have heared of any issues.
Which versions of CVB are running on the systems where you encounter this issue?

@Sebastian
Hi Sebastian

Thanks for getting back to me
I have checked that the services are running and also set them to restart on error.
The version of CVB we are running is 14.01.001

OK, this is a very new version which where I do not know any issues. If you encounter them again, please check if the services are running during that time.

@Sebastian @Broardstone Just wanted to quickly chip in here, we are running 14.01.004 and have had this same issue across multiple machines and dongles.

We have found that updating the codemeter runtime to V8.20 seems to fix the problem. It can be downloaded from here User Software - Wibu-Systems
